Closure
of HMT Watch Factory Ranibagh
Cabinet
Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) in its meeting held on 06.01.2016 has
approved the closure of three subsidiaries of HMT Limited including HMT Watches
Limited which includes Ranibagh unit in Uttarakhand.
.As per
the CCEA approval, all the employees of these companies would be offered
attractive VRS/VSS package at 2007 notional pay scales with gratuity and leave
encashment also at 2007 notional pay scales, in relaxation of DPE guidelines.
This
information was given by Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public
Enterprises Shri G.M.Siddheshwara in reply to a written question in the Rajya
Sabha today.

Revision
of Policy Towards Heavy Industries
Department
of Industrial Policy and Promotion has informed the list of items reserved for
the Public Sector is reviewed from time to time depending upon the overall
economic and strategic requirement of the country. The existing list of industries reserved for
the public sector is given below:-

INDUSTRIES RESERVED FOR THE PUBLIC SECTOR
1. Atomic Energy (Production,
Separation or enrichment of special fissionable materials and substances and
operation of the facilities)*

of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry,
Govt. of India.
2. Railway operations other than
construction, operation and maintenance of the following:**
(i) Suburban corridor projects through PPP, (ii)
High speed train project, (iii) dedicated freight lines, (iv) Rolling stock
including train sets, and locomotives/coaches manufacturing and maintenance
facilities, (v) Railway Electrification, (vi)signaling systems, (vii) freight
terminals, (viii) Passenger terminals, (ix) infrastructure in industrial park
pertaining to railway line/sidings including electrified railway lines and
connectivity to main railway lines and (x) Mass Rapid Transport systems.
