Global Crude oil price of Indian Basket was US$ 43.10 per bbl on 09.11.2016 

The international crude oil price of Indian Basket as computed/published today by Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas was US$ 43.10 per barrel (bbl) on 09.11.2016. This was lower than the price of US$ 43.34 per bbl on previous publishing day of 08.11.2016.


In rupee terms, the price of Indian Basket decreased to Rs. 2879.14 per bbl on 09.11.2016 as compared to Rs. 2890.77 per bbl on 08.11.2016. Rupee closed weaker at Rs. 66.80 per US$ on 09.11.2016 as against Rs. 66.71 per US$ on 08.11.2016. The table below gives details in this regard:

Consultative Committee Meeting of MPs for the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas held

Meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Members of Parliament for the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas was held in New Delhi on 09th November, 2016. Following Hon’ble Members participated in the meeting:

  A presentation on the topic “Promoting Gas Economy” was made during the meeting. The Members gave valuable inputs and suggestions to further promote the use of gas in the country. Chairing the meeting, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for M/o Petroleum & Natural Gas Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that India is fast growing economy and macro-economic drivers indicate significant upside in consumption of natural gas and other primary energy forms. He said the Government is providing strong policy thrust for supporting consumption of natural gas and enabling infrastructure expansion to aid investment flows in this direction. He said the present share of gas in the energy mix of the country is 6.5% which the Government is trying to take up to 15% in a couple of years. He highlighted significant steps taken in this direction, like, setting up of National Gas Grid, Urja Ganga for eastern parts of the country, strengthening city gas distribution network and exploitation of unconventional resources.
