Meeting between Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Radha Mohan Singh and Agriculture and Rural Development Minister of Israel, Mr. M.K. Yuri Ariel



Meeting between Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Radha Mohan Singh and Agriculture and Rural Development Minister of Israel, Mr. M.K. Yuri Ariel will further strengthen ties between the two countries.
Action plan 2012-15 initiated with the help of Israel in Haryana, Maharashtra, Bihar, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab has been a very much successful phenomenon.
The third phase of action plan made for the year 2015-18 has been finalized and under Indo-Israel action plan 21 states have been included.


            Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Radha Mohan Singh today met with Agriculture and Rural Development Minister of Israel, Mr. M.K. Yuri Ariel. The meeting will boost new horizons between the two countries.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister said that India has enjoyed a lot of benefits from the experiences extended by agriculture experts of Israel. In May 2006 India and Israel had signed on action plan in Israel. Thereafter India had given her consent in 2008. For the first time in 2008-2010 concerted efforts had been started in Maharashtra, Haryana as well as Rajasthan under action plan.

Shri Singh said that India is benefitting herself from the expertise of Israel in many more sectors. Under action plan nursery management/ protected farming, pro harvest management, horticulture, infrastructural network, canopy management/protection, protected farming, pro harvest management utilizations of low quality water for micro irrigation precision farming of micro irrigation, bee keeping, livestock and dairy are the fields which have enhanced its production with the help of the training given to the Indian officers in Israel and consequent upon technology driven farming has come ahead for the people.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister also extended the information that the experts from Israel are visiting the states concerned for the exhibitions, training and to set up the state of art centers. Both the countries are committed to help each other in this sector.

An another action plan has been formulated for the year 2016-2020 between Indian Agricultural Research Council and Government of Israel and hope that Israel will give her consent for this purpose. In addition to this, negotiation have been made to set up a joint fund for research and extension education programmes. It will help to finalize activities related to action plan.

The meeting between Agriculture Ministers and delegates of the two countries have decided research work and related activities. They also negotiated to provide scholarship to the students undergoing studies in Israel. The two countries will share the expenditure incurred on scholarship. Indian Agricultural Research Council is already providing international fellowship of Ph.D. every year. At the end of the talk Agriculture Minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh wished a pleasant and happy stay of Israeli delegate in India.

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh programme meant for 06.04.2016 is as under:

·        At 10 AM Agriculture Minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh will inaugurate Tropical Fruit Centre in Ladwa, Kurukshetra. At this juncture the Agriculture and Rural Development Minister of Israel Mr. M.K. Yuri Ariel, Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and State Agriculture Minister Shri Om Prakash Dhankar will also accompany him.
·        At 11 AM Agriculture Minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh will inaugurate Potato Technology Centre in Shyamgarh, Karnal. At this event Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and State Agriculture Minister Shri Om Prakash Dhankar will also represent.
·        At 12 PM Agriculture Minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh will participate the foundation laying programme of the Horticulture Science University in Anjanthali, Karnal. In this programme Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and State Agriculture Minister Shri Om Prakash Dhankar will also accompany him.

Farmers’ Fair and Exhibition for creating awareness among the farmers about Pradhan MantriFasalBeemaYojana.
Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India is organising Farmers’ Fair and Agricultural Exhibition across the country at 583 KrishiVigyanKendras to create awareness among farmers about new Pradhan MantriFasalBeemaYojana. Till 03.04.2016, such fairs have been organised at 90 locations with participation of the Members of Parliament and Central Ministers including Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Raj Nath Singh Ji at Lucknow, Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shri Radha Mohan Singh Ji at Motihari, Bihar; Minister of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Shri Kalraj Mishra at Kushinagar, UP; Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Smt. Uma Bharti Ji at Lalitpur, UP; Minister of State for Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shri MohanbhaiKundariya at Rajkot, Gujarat; Member of Parliaments, Shri Sher Singh Gobaya at Ferozpur, Punjab; Shri Ashwani Kr. Chopra at Karnal, Haryana; Shri VirenderKashyap at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh ; ChaudhariBabuLal at Agra, UP; Smt.Anupriya Patel at Mirzapur, UP and Mr. Jagdambika Pal at Siddharth Nagar.

In this programme the farmers are being made aware about other schemes also and the information, knowledge and advisory on various crops, horticulture, livestock and poultry related questions are also being addressed by the Scientists in the farmers-Scientists interface programme being organised by the KVKs.

The literature about the Pradhan MantriFasalBeemaYojana is being provided to the farmers, question-answer sessions are also being held and a comprehensive CD containing the film on the Pradhan MantriFasalBeemaYojana is also being showed to the farmers.
