Indian Railways Withdraws Busy Season Charges
Ministry of Railways has decided to withdraw Busy Season Charge levied on all commodities loaded in Covered Stock for two months. This will be applicable from 1st May 2016 to 30th June 2016. This was announced by the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu in a programme today.

The international crude oil price of Indian Basket as computed/published today by Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas was US$ 43.86 per barrel (bbl) on 28.04.2016. This was higher than the price of US$ 43.03 per bbl on previous publishing day of 27.04.2016.

Revision of rates of food grains from below poverty line (BPL) rates to National Food Security Act (NFSA) rates under Mid Day Meal Scheme (MDMS)
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has decided to revise rates of foodgrains supplied under Mid Day Meal Scheme from Below Poverty Line (BPL) rate to the rate applicable under National Food Security Act (NFSA) for the 1st two quarters of the year 2016-17. Now the foodgrains would be supplied at NFSA rate of Rs. 3 per kg. for rice and Rs. 2 per kg. for wheat with effect from 1st April, 2016. The State Governments / UT Administrations have also been informed of the above decision today (29th April, 2016).

No comparative data is available on the consumption of cigarettes and other tobacco products in the country. However, as per Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS-India 2010), about 35% of the adults in India consume tobacco in some form or the other. The estimated number of tobacco users in India is 27.5 crore, with 16.37 crore users of only smokeless tobacco, 6.9 crore only smokers and 4.23 crore users of both smoking and smokeless tobacco. The prevalence of overall tobacco use among males is 48 percent and that among females is 20 percent. Among both males and females, the prevalence of tobacco use is higher in rural than urban areas. More than half of rural males (52 percent) and 24 percent of rural females use tobacco compared with 38 percent of urban males and 12 percent of urban females.

The 2016 edition of the Indian Navy Cup Race was raced at the race course at 1545 hours on 29 Apr 2016 amidst a full house. Fourteen participants raced for the coveted trophy. Gucci Water owned by Mrs Kumud Sharma was the winner and Miss Duncan belonging to Bharat Prabhakar and Ravi Pathak was the runners up.
